You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.— Saint Peter, 1 Peter 2:9-10
St. Luke’s is a group of forgiven sinners trusting in God’s mercy, a band of broken people coming to their Savior for healing, a community of suffering people joyful because of our hope in God’s salvation. As Christ has welcomed us with all our faults and failures, we extend Christ’s welcome to you.
As Lutheran Christians, we emphasize three basic principals:
- God saves us, loves us, heals us, and gives us eternal life by grace alone—we do not do anything to merit God’s favor.
- We experience God saving us and the world through faith alone—a confident trust in God, who in Christ promises us forgiveness, life and salvation.
- The Bible is the norm for our faith and life—the true standard by which teachings and doctrines are to be judged.
