Greetings members of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church,
COVID-19 is impacting our congregation in a couple significant ways. The virus, of course, is keeping us apart. Our love of gathering to worship our God together in song and in verse is strong. That love and the circumstances we find ourselves in has resulted in a sense of loss for many of us. We are reminded of Jesus telling us that “I am with you always, to the end of the age”. He is with us during this time as we move our worship, song, children’s messages and prayers online.
We are also being impacted in more trivial, but important areas. While our offices and sanctuary remain closed, we are still a fully functional church. This includes incurring ongoing financial commitments as we temporarily change how we know Christ and how we make Christ known. While we cannot control our ability to gather in our house of worship, we can control our commitment of regularly giving.
Please continue your giving through any of the several options we have in place. St. Luke’s most benefits if you give by sending a check directly to the office (3215 Four Mile Rd., Grand Rapids, MI 49525). Please include your name or envelope number in the memo of the check (we ask that you refrain from sending cash). Another option for giving would be using online bill payment through your bank or credit union. Online giving allows you to use your eCheck and you can also schedule giving on a regular frequency. Directions for setting up online bill pay can be downloaded below.
Finally, while our church office continues to be closed, our staff are working from home. Staff can be contacted by phone or email. Voice mail and emails are monitored on a regular basis.
As Bishop Eaton stated in her online message, pause and reflect…. and think about what it means to be the body of Christ.
God Bless,
Brian Rice
