Nicodemus comes in the dark of night with many questions for Jesus. The answers given him must have seemed very confusing, but he would have known of the serpent lifted up in the wilderness and seen that as a sign of healing and hope. As John 3:17 says, “God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.”
