During St. Luke’s Week, Tara Aday, Director of Prevention and Education at Safe Haven Ministries will lead a discussion about Domestic Violence and the church’s role in caring for abuse survivors. Domestic Violence is one of the mot pervasive issues facing our community. Unfortunately, domestic abuse knows no boundaries, meaning it can happen to anyone regardless of race, ethnicity, socio-economic status, gender and/or religion. Without education and training, it can be hard to know exactly what to do to support someone experiencing abuse. Yet, for those in the faith community, it is an important skill to develop because survivors of domestic violence are more likely to disclose their experience to pastors and ministry leaders than any other helping profession.
