It is Holy Week, and since we cannot meet for Maundy Thursday or Good Friday services, I thought I would share a couple of songs with you. I pray you may worship God through them.
Maundy Thursday
This service has several focuses, but primarily Holy Communion and the traditional foot washing ceremony. We almost always sing “Jesu, Jesu, Fill Us with Your Love.” I’ve sung the version from the ELW, which you may notice has some updated language which I very much appreciate. I invite you to let the song be your prayer during this difficult time – try to think how we can be loving servants to our neighbors, even if we can’t wash their feet! And within your home, you may wish to wash the feet of your loved ones.
Jesu, Jesu, Fill Us with Your Love
Jesu, Jesu, fill us with your love, show us how to serve the neighbors we have from you.
1 Kneels at the feet of his friends, silently washes their feet, master who acts as a slave to them. Refrain
2 Neighbors are wealthy and poor, varied in color and race, neighbors are near us and far away. Refrain
3 These are the ones we will serve, these are the ones we will love; all these are neighbors to us and you. Refrain
4 Kneel at the feet of our friends, silently washing their feet: this is the way we will live with you. Refrain

Good Friday
The next song is a new one, also from the ELW – “Now Behold the Lamb of God.” One of the main themes of Good Friday is Jesus triumph on the cross. Kirk Franklin has written a wonderful, worshipful response to this amazing truth, I hope you enjoy it.
Now Behold the Lamb
1 Now behold the Lamb, the precious Lamb of God, who bore all my sin, that I may live again: the precious Lamb of God.
2 Holy is the Lamb, the precious Lamb of God. Why you love me so, Lord, I shall never know; the precious Lamb of God.
3 Thank you for the Lamb, the precious Lamb of God. Because of your grace I can finish the race; the precious Lamb of God.
Text: Kirk Franklin, b. 1970. Music: NOW BEHOLD THE LAMB, Kirk Franklin

Thank you Jonathan
I really love this song from Kirk Franklin; it’s new to me! I enjoyed listening to it twice. The end of the third verse resonates right now: “Because of your grace I can finish the race”.
