Serve one another with humility and love.
This is our theme as we travel to El Salvador to serve, June 13th – 21st, for the St Lukes Habitat/Thrivent Builds team. For some of our team, it is a return to the Getsemani community in Ahuachapan, (Western region of El Salvador) where for others, it will be our first mission trip abroad.
Strengthening the Getsemaní Community
Our efforts will contribute to a three-year project that aims to improve the living conditions of 138 families in a low-income community through a holistic development project. In this project, Habitat is building 90 houses and developing programs in community leadership, values education, community health and cultural exchange. Our team is excited and feels blessed to be able to contribute, as well as to represent St Lukes in this effort.
Send Off
We will depart from GRR at 6:00pm this Saturday and change planes in Houston TX, on our way to the capital city of San Salvador. From the airport there, we will take land transport for a couple of hours, arriving at Getsemani in the dawn of night. We’ll get some shut eye for a few hours, then be up Sunday morning to attend church with our local hosts. After a little R&R, we will then attend a Habitat\Thrivent Builds orientation to prep for our first building day on Monday.
If you are able, please help to send the team off on Saturday, June 13th at 3:30pm in the church parking lot. Please keep us in your prayers as we travel to serve, to know Christ and to help to make Christ known!
