This Sunday morning, we had the opportunity to attend worship with our hosts here in San Salvador. We all agreed that this was just a great and wonderfully blessed experience! The entire service was delivered in Spanish language. We had an interpreter help us to understand the message as she repeated out loud for us, the various readings, sermon & message. We all sang hymns in Spanish language as the verses were shared out on a video screen. What a great way to learn a little Spanish, singing praises to his name via reading along! We all felt that it was just great to not only share in a foreign culture, but also to praise and worship; from the children’s message, with singing, clapping and hand motions, to the reading of the lessons and gospel (thanks to Fred F for reading for our team), to the sharing of the peace, to taking the holy sacrament. To end the service, the Bishop introduced each of us, by first name, to the congregation and were were thanked for our service in helping to build houses. We were each presented with a wooden cross by a child of the congregation, which was followed by a big hug from the children participating! Truly a great and blessed experience!
